What are we supposed to talk about?
Certainly not religion or politics!
I was taught this. The 60-year-old women in my VoteWELL circle were taught this, too.
How long have Americans been told to not discuss politics?
How long have we outsourced important conversations to the media and our politicians?
If no one’s talking, then no one’s listening.
Yet, we’re getting louder and louder.
Would we have to shout if we felt that they were actually listening to us?
How long will it take us to create a culture of listening? Of deep, authentic listening?
Could you, yes you!, listen to a person who disagrees with you and listen without an intention to respond?
